Whiting Lakefront Wins IACT Award!

The Indiana Association of Cities and Towns (IACT) awarded the City of Whiting the 2015 Community Achievement Award for its Lakefront Park Redevelopment Project. Context Design worked with Whiting’s Mayor Joseph Stahura and his staff to transform an underutilized and underdeveloped 26-acre lakefront property into a major asset for the community.
The Whiting Lakefront was completed in 2015 and includes: two-tiered promenade, nature area and gazebo event center, and renovation of all existing facilities, including Whihala Beach pathways and the boat harbor. The City of Whiting recognizes this plan as one of their greatest achievements having enhanced the quality of life in their community, brought the community closer together, revitalized its appeal and reputation and set the stage for economic development opportunities for generations to come. Lafayette Unveils Upgrades for Memorial Island

The City of Lafayette Parks & Recreation Parks Board approved a $4.2M Master Plan for upgrades to Columbian Park's Memorial Island. The plan includes improvements to the stage and promenade areas, as well as a revitalized entry from Scott Street and a new boardwalk along the lagoon. Additionally, improvements are planned to the memorial areas to provide private spaces to celebrate and honor the region's veterans. The Parks Department hopes to encourage year round use of the site with these renovations and upgrades. The Lafayette Journal & Courier and WBAA have more on the announcement.

Kokomo Municipal Stadium Named Best of the Ballparks

The recently constructed Kokomo Municipal Stadium beat out 31 of the nations best summer-collegiate ballpark facilities in a competition held by Ballpark Digest.com. World Sports Park wows the international Cricket community! Indianapolis hosted the opening rounds of the ICC World Qualifier on May 3-10, 2015. The International Cricket Council deems World Sports Park as the finest facility in the United States.
