Lafayette Unveils Upgrades for Memorial Island

The City of Lafayette Parks & Recreation Parks Board approved a $4.2M Master Plan for upgrades to Columbian Park's Memorial Island. The plan includes improvements to the stage and promenade areas, as well as a revitalized entry from Scott Street and a new boardwalk along the lagoon.  Additionally, improvements are planned to the memorial areas to provide private spaces to celebrate and honor the region's veterans.  The Parks Department hopes to encourage year round use of the site with these renovations and upgrades.  The Lafayette Journal & Courier and WBAA have more on the announcement.
