Mackey Arena at Purdue University
Wiley Dining Court at Purdue University
CONTEXT was commissioned to integrate landscape development with the main entrance and newly constructed ramp system for University Hall, the oldest building on campus. Concepts from the original plans and historic photographs are incorporated to revive the lost character of the site.
A boxwood hedge helps to direct pedestrian traffic while ornamental trees and shrubs anchor the building corners and simple foundation treatments mimic the historic planting scheme. A building sign and commemorative plaque were relocated to key locations within large beds of ivy, lavender and perennials that preserve the integrity of the site while relating it to the adjacent campus landscape. CONTEXT developed complete design and construction documents while adhering to current campus safety and design standards.
