The renovation and expansion of this existing headquarters facility presented a variety of design challenges. Working in collaboration with Hannum, Wagle & Cline Engineering, CONTEXT developed a holistic site concept that allowed the client to maintain operations throughout the 12-month construction process.
The site design solution completely separates visitor access from staff and delivery traffic, while providing a pleasant approach to the new building entrance. Sandstone columns, cedar trellises and layered plantings flank the entrance, creating a dynamic, inviting interaction between interior and exterior spaces. A 3-acre prairie over the facility’s geo-thermal well field reduces long-term maintenance while creating an environmental amenity for employees and users of the adjacent Pennsy Trail.
