Glendale Town Center throws a block party

July 27, 2008

To celebrate the grand re-opening of the historic Glendale Town Center, the development’s owner, Kite Realty Group, sponsored a neighborhood block party. The party was a way to say “thank you for your patience and support” to the local community, who has been watching and working around the construction for more than a year. CONTEXT is proud to have served as part of the design team for this important revitalization effort.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Meridian-Kessler Neighborhood Association hoped the project would encourage area residents to shop locally, said Victoria Pardue-Edwards, a zone delegate for the association. “I think having a Target store here is going to help our local economy, instead of (people) driving out to other counties,” Pardue-Edwards said. Organizers said they were happy with the high turnout. About 1,000 people had been expected to attend, but there were more than 500 visitors in just the first hour, Sullivan said. Saturday‘s party activities started at 2 p.m. and continued until 10 p.m. Meagan Ingerson. ”Glendale has party to thank neighbors for their patience“ indystar.com July 27, 2008. INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The block party had an atmosphere of a small town carnival. Face Painters, jugglers, a magician, kid games, put-put golf, an animal Show, a concert, and fireworks were all part of the festivities. The new Glendale parking lot was packed; the people from the cars were divided between the party, Target, and the movie theater.
