The Flynn ResidenceBloomington, IndianaAs the first owners within a new single-family planned-use development, the Flynn's sought a design team that would set the bar high for aesthetic, environmentally-sensitive design. CONTEXT developed a site master plan that ties the prairie-style architecture of the home, designed by Perkins Von Deylen & Associates, to the land in such a way that the two become extensions of each other and of the owner's personal convictions toward family, technology, and nature. Here, low stone walls reach out from the home like roots into the prairie, living spaces flow outdoors onto stone terraces, patios, and gardens, and rainwater captured from the roof is recirculated in a stone water course and stored for irrigation. CONTEXT provided detailed construction documentation for layout, grading, planting, and site hardscape and structural elements.
