Client: Calvary Christian School
Calvary Christian School is currently renovating a former "big box" retail building into a new school and family life center. As part of this commendable example of adaptive reuse, lead by Entheos Architects, the School engaged CONTEXT to develop the site design for a new play area that will include two age-appropriate playgrounds, an outdoor classroom and other learning opportunities, an exercise trail and a multi-purpose play field. The final design uses sculptural topography to define spaces and provide ADA-compliant access to play components while stimulating creative play in an environment where mounds transform readily into majestic mountains overlooking vast meadows. Storm water management plays an integral role in the design of the playscape as water filters through a series of small basins planted with native grasses and wildflowers.
